How much do clear aligners cost in Egypt?
The cost of CosmoClear treatment for a full case depends on your case, with simpler single-arch or short cases priced lower, and is confirmed in a written treatment plan. The fee covers the intraoral scan, 3D treatment planning, all aligner sets, refinements and the first set of retainers.
How long does clear aligner treatment take?
Most cases finish in 6–18 months, with mild crowding or relapse cases completing in as little as four months. Duration is driven by the amount of tooth movement planned and by wear compliance, not by the brand of aligner.
How many hours a day must I wear aligners?
Aligners must be worn 20–22 hours per day and removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing. Wear below roughly 20 hours is the single most common cause of tracking failure, where teeth stop following the digital plan.
Can clear aligners fix all orthodontic problems?
Clear aligners handle crowding, spacing, mild-to-moderate rotations, deep bite and relapse predictably. Severe skeletal discrepancies, large extraction-space closure and significant canine rotations are still treated more reliably with fixed appliances, and we say so at consultation rather than forcing an aligner plan.
Are clear aligners really invisible?
The trays themselves are transparent and largely unnoticeable at conversational distance. Small tooth-coloured attachments bonded to some teeth to generate specific movements are visible up close, and they are removed at the end of treatment.
Do clear aligners hurt?
Patients typically report pressure and tenderness for the first two days of each new tray, which is the expected response of the periodontal ligament to controlled force. Trials comparing aligners with fixed appliances consistently report lower pain scores in the aligner group during the first week.
Can I eat and drink with aligners in?
No — remove aligners for all food and for any drink other than plain water. Hot drinks distort the thermoplastic, and sugary or coloured drinks consumed with trays in place hold sugar and pigment against the enamel, raising decay and staining risk.
How do I clean my aligners?
Rinse trays under cool water every time they are removed and brush them gently with a soft brush and clear, unscented soap rather than toothpaste, which is abrasive and clouds the plastic. Never use hot water or leave trays in a car in Cairo summer heat.
How often do I change to the next tray?
Trays are usually changed every 7–10 days, with the interval set by the treating orthodontist based on movement type and patient response. Accelerated 5-day protocols exist for selected cases but are not appropriate for every movement.
How many clinic visits are needed?
A typical aligner case requires a visit every 6–8 weeks — fewer than fixed braces, which need monthly adjustments. Remote monitoring by photo review between visits is available for patients travelling or living abroad.
Do I need retainers afterwards?
Yes, permanently. Teeth relapse toward their original position without retention regardless of how they were straightened, so we fit a fixed lingual retainer, a removable night retainer, or both. Retention is the part of treatment patients most often underestimate.
What if I lose a tray?
Go back to the previous tray immediately and contact the clinic the same day. Because CosmoClear trays are planned and printed in our own laboratory, a replacement is usually produced within days rather than shipped from abroad.
Are clear aligners suitable for teenagers?
Yes, when the permanent dentition has erupted and the patient is likely to comply with wear time. Compliance indicators and eruption tabs are used for growing patients, and parents are given a wear log to support the routine.
Are clear aligners more expensive than braces?
Yes, typically. Metal braces remain the lowest-cost option in Cairo, ceramic braces sit in between, and clear aligners cost more because of the digital planning and the number of trays produced. The full comparison is in our [aligners vs braces guide](/blog/clear-aligners-vs-braces-comparison).
Can I whiten my teeth during aligner treatment?
Yes. Aligner trays can double as whitening trays with a clinician-supplied gel, usually toward the end of treatment once tooth positions are close to final. Whitening during active movement is timed carefully to avoid sensitivity stacking with tray changes.
How do I find out if I am a candidate?
A 3D intraoral scan and a set of records at any Cairo branch produce a digital simulation showing the projected end result before you commit. [Book a scan](/book-appointment) or read more about [CosmoClear](/services/cosmoclear).
